This term we are working hard to learn how to draw sound buttons. They can be drawn under a word to make the graphemes clearer.
When a single letter makes a sound on its own a dot is used.
When 2 or more letters work together and are next to each other a straight line is used.
When two letters work together but are separated (like the a and e in snake) a curved like is drawn to link the two letters together.
For the next few weeks we are working with the sounds from phase 3. This week we are working with the digraphs ch, sh, th and ng.

Year One love drawing their own monsters and giving them great names.
Parents, children and teachers had a great time paying Phonics games.
Year One loved making phonics flowers. In the centre if each word is a phoneme and on each petal, a word with that phoneme in.
We are focusing on learning to read split digraphs at the moment.
Digraphs are two letters that work together to make a sound. Split digraphs are always separated by another letter. Here are just a few:
Year 1’s Inspire Workshop focused on reading. They loved playing phonics games and having a go at different roles we use in Reciprocal Reading . 
There are great games on this website. The children know them well! They should be choosing games from either phase 3, 4, or 5. Sorry about the noise!
